Why do we love this wine?
Punchy, aromatic and completely alive from the first sniff - passionfruit, green apple, lemon zest and a little apricot, with a wet stone mineral quality threading through everything and giving it that unmistakable cool-climate edge. The palate is zesty and refreshing, with kiwifruit (yes, we know...), grapefruit and a line of fresh herbs keeping things lively, well supported by juicy acidity that carries it all the way to a clean, satisfying finish. Back in 1996 at Philip Murphy in Toorak, this sort of style launched Marlborough Sav Blanc to what it is today. Passionfruit, gooseberry and fresh lime are complemented by subtle herbal notes. The palate is crisp and energetic, with bright acidity and mineral precision giving shape to the ripe tropical fruit. Fresh, expressive and classically Marlborough. Spot on. Serve with grilled chicken Caesar salad with poached egg. Vino Masters Score: 95 / 100 ★★★★★
